Ladies Public Improvement Society

The Ladies Public Improvement Society (LPIS) in South Blue Hill, Maine, was formed over a century ago by a group of area women who saw the need for a community gathering place. Central Hall was built in 1901 for this purpose, and in the 124 years since the LPIS has maintained the Hall for neighbors and friends to get together for live music, community suppers, comedy shows, reunions, birthday parties, yard sales, ice cream socials, and much more.
